Training opportunities with Creative Exchange
Harmony Training delivered two strands of training for CE:SY which trained 53 learners overall: Find Your Voice workshops and Music Skills tasters.
Find Your Voice was run twice and facilitated by inspirational vocal and yoga coach Sarah Jay Hawley, to build confidence and enhance presentation and performance skills. Five learners went on to join Harmony’s choir, The Voxettes, and have since sung at public events.
The Music Skills tasters utilised Harmony’s newly secured management of the recording studio and live room at The Burton Street Foundation and comprised:
* Recording
* Band/Artist Development
* Music Technology
* Instrumentation
* DJ Skills
The tasters helped build relationships with local schools, youth groups and community organisations including REACT and the Netherthorpe and Upperthorpe Young People’s Platform.
Training was completed in September 2008.
CE:SY funding enabled local community groups to participate in a range of music making workshops. The tasters helped to establish demand for further training, as well as develop valuable partnerships with organisations in North Sheffield.
What learners said about the workshops and tasters:
“It has inspired me to get further training and development in singing and yoga. BRING IT ON!”
“The recording sessions and band development have been fantastic. We’ve learned a lot about the process of recording and have ended up with a great demo. Thanks!”
